Do you have survival skills?
If you’re like most of us, the skills you have you learned in the military – how to track and kill small game for food; how to chlorinate some water so that it’s fit to drink…There are many similar tactics you can learn today.
But some of us never joined the military for one reason or another, so we’ll have to rely on our wits. One way to help you prepare is to develop a quiz that helps you hone your urban abilities to recognize opportunities to get through a dangerous situation. You can even join an online forum to get some tips.
Hopefully, I can give you a few hints that can help even the most novice wilderness survivor. After all, you’re only looking this up because you need to have a couple of tricks up your sleeve – just in case.
I’ve been working on my skills for some time, because I am afraid of what might happen. I’m not a conspiracy nut or anything like that, I’m just trying to be prepared… for my wife and for my kids.
And, you never know what might happen – Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy should have taught us something. Having a stash of supplies is one thing, but not knowing how to ration your food, if necessary – or how to protect your private urban cache from people who did not plan ahead – well, that’s something else altogether.
It’s not that you need a machine gun, but something to protect yourself is pretty much a given. Whether the test to your abilities was days ago, or hours ago, you have to be ready! Even with all the bad hype and press lately, a handgun is pretty much a necessity. But knowing the questions to ask will help you to be ready for all comers – and readying your family members with quiz routines will help you plan ahead.
That’s what the right to bear arms is all about. Protecting yourself, your family and your property.
Self-preservation is the first of all survival skills, so if you don’t know how to defend yourself at home or in the wilderness – start here. A person may find that they are in a position totally unexpected. Check for classes that offer training for your kids and your spouse, it is your responsibility.
One of the first things you should do is to create a list of survivalist gear to keep in your kit for a quick escape. A kit should have food items, water, emergency blankets, survival straps – along with a host of other things. Think it through, and plan accordingly.

Your getting out of a crisis depends upon your protecting yourself. In the case of a natural disaster, you won’t be able to pick up the phone and call 9-1-1. Well, maybe you can – but will you get a response? Chances are, these first responders will be pretty busy already… And if it’s a large-scale disaster, the test of the first responders will be one that hits them quickly. Hours ago or days ago, they will be stretched to the limit!
You owe it to yourself to develop some basic survival skills that will get your past the climatic point of the initial crisis. The most critical time of any dangerous situation is right after the disaster strikes. With chaos winning, you need to be able to keep your head. By getting serious and practicing quiz questions and answers as a family, you can replace the chaos with order.
Not only in a figurative sense, but in a literal sense as well. The wilderness can be a difficult place for even the most seasoned, but urban, survivalist! By getting the right gear together in one place, easily accessible for a fast move-out in an emergency – along with a list of needed items to grab on the way out the door – you will find that you can get to a safe place with more than just the clothes on your back.
Check online now, look for local classes that will give you a start at providing some self-reliance – some comfort in basic knowledge. Any person may learn similar techniques to make the likelihood of their getting out of a hot mess by taking the appropriate classes. It is up to you to make sure that each member of your family finds the value in training. There are all kinds of training for kids and adults alike.
